====== Withings Health Mate App and Smartwatch instructions ====== Please watch an instructional video on how to install and setup the SleepRevolution app and Withings app [[https://vimeo.com/868271643|here]]. ====== Health Mate app instructions ====== The app used with the **Withings** smartwatch is called **Health Mate**. Start by instructing the participant to download and install the **Health Mate** app from **App Store** or **Play Store**. * Guide the participant through the login process using the email address and password provided. * After inputting the e-mail address the app asks you to fill in a code sent via e-mail. Please click on **See options** located under the fill-in field and choose **"Log in with password"** and then enter the password. See step-by-step guide to the login in the figure below. * Agree to Privacy Policy and Terms. {{:esada_instructions:login.png?1000|}} ==== Once logged in, we need to change some settings (height and weight) and pair the watch to the app. ==== {{:esada_instructions:wapp.png?1000|}} ==== Changing the height ==== Start by making sure that the measurement units are set to **cm** and **kg**. Got to **Profile** in the bottom banner and then choose the cogwheel in the top right corner. Then scroll down and find the **Units** setting and change it if neccessary. Please ask the participant to: * Press **Profile**. * Press the blue tab with age, height, weight. * Enter their measured height in the relevant field. * Press checkmark in top right corner or save at the bottom (depends what type of phone you have). Please ask the participant to **NOT** change name, date of birth and gender. * Go back to **Home** page by selecting **Home** in the bottom banner. {{:esada_instructions:height.png?1000|}} ==== Changing the weight ==== * Press the plus in the top right corner at the **Home** page. * Press weight. * Select your weight and press the checkmark/save in top right corner. * Go back to front page by selecting **Home** in the bottom banner. {{:esada_instructions:weight.png?800|}} ==== Pairing the watch to the smartphone via Bluetooth ==== * First make sure the watch is discoverable by pressing the button on the side of the watch. * After the screen on the watch says: **Setup**, press Devices on the bottom banner in the **Health Mate** app. * Press “Install a device”. * Press “Watches”. * Press “ScanWatch”. * Press “Install”. * Press “Next”. * Press “Pair”. * Enter the 6-digit code shown on the screen of the watch. * Follow the instructions in the app. * Please select on which wrist you will wear the watch and put the watch on that wrist. Read instructions and press Understood. Press Finish Later. * We have now finished setting up the watch and the app. Do you have any questions? (The participants needs to know how to check the battery life in the app, see section **Charging the watch**) {{:esada_instructions:pair1.png?800|}} {{:esada_instructions:pair2.png?500|}} ===== About the watch ===== * The **Withings** watch is a smartwatch, and we ask the participant to wear it during the study period. The participant should return the watch and its charger after the study period. * Please ask the participant to try to wear the watch as much as possible both during the day and night. The watch is waterproof and can be taken to shower but please take it off if you go to a swimming pool, sauna, etc. * It is important that the participant wears the watch at night, especially when you are using the sleep equipment. * Inform the participant that is they get an allergic reaction from the wristband, instruct them to take the watch off and contact us. * Make sure to resync the watch before you return it. ===== Charging the watch ===== * The participants receive a charger with the watch and will need to charge the watch every 2-3 days, please emphasize to the participants to charge the watch as soon as possible when the battery is low, preferably during the day (we are most interested in the data during your sleep) * You can see the battery life in the **Healt Mate** app – show the participant where to find it by selecting **Devices** in the bottom banner. * Please close(quit) the **Heath Mate** app and restart it again every time you charge the watch and every time you have a problem with the app – this forces the app to re-establish a connection and sync with the watch. * If the participant runs into any problems with the watch or with charging the watch and the participant has already tried closing the **Healt Mate** app and opening it again, inform participant to contact the researchers. ===== Watch and smartphone Bluetooth connection ===== * If you encounter a problem with establishing a connection with the **Health Mate** app, the best thing is to close(quit) the **Heath Mate** app and restart it again – this forces the app to re-establish a connection and sync with the watch. * The smart phone and the **Withings** watch NEED to be able to sync periodically – therefore, we recommend not separating the two for long periods of time because of possible data loss. If the smart phone and the **Withings** watch become separated so that a Bluetooth connection cannot be maintained – please instruct the participants to open the **Health Mate** app and verify that the connection has been re-established when the phone and watch are reunited. * If the phone enters into battery saving mode due to low battery, some phones break the **Bluetooth** connection with the **Withings** watch to save battery life. If that occurs, it is important to charge the phone and verify that the watch has re-established a connection with the watch by opening the **Health Mate** app. * Please inform the participant to avoid turning off **Bluetooth** on their phone. * If the **Bluetooth** connection between the phone and the **Withings** watch is disabled. It is important to turn it on as soon as possible and re-syncing in the **Health Mate** app (like described above). * Please instruct the participants to turn on notifications for the **Health Mate** app, this is essential for the research mode. ===== Factory resetting the watch ===== * Possible reasons why you might need to factory reset the watch * When the watch cannot connect/sync. * When the clock is incorrect for more than 7 days and it does not work to re-sync the Withings health mate app. * Other issues that prevent data coming in. * When you are reusing a watch from one participant to another. * When there is a problem with the watch, always start by re-syncing the watch with the **Health Mate** app (described above). * If you need to factory reset the watch, please follow these steps: * Remove watch from app (disassociate) and remove from **Bluetooth** devices. * Hold in the side button of the watch until you see an info screen. * Next step is to press the side button three times. You should then see **“FACTORY RESET”** on the screen. * Next you hold the side button in until the screen shows **“Reset in 5 clicks”** and you click the button five times. * Now your screen should show **“Reset”** which means your watch is resetting. * If the participant will continue to use the watch they should pair the watch again to the phone by following the steps in the chapter called **“Pairing a watch"**.
